Mira Costa High School is the only High School serving Manhattan Beach, became a California Distinguished School in 2011 and has a graduation rate of 95.7%.
ESPN counted this school as the 15th top school in the nation in their Fab 50 list. Their musical ‘Peter Pan’ has taken the top honor of the Best Musical at the Jerry Herman Awards. The Mira Costa choir performed at Carnegie Hall and Mira Costa is one of 3 schools in the USA to receive the Grammy Signature School Gold. It has also been named as the CBEE Honor Roll School.
A $53 million renovation project was taken ahead by Measure BB for improvements to the campus. Mira Costa is a member of the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation and the Single Plan for Student Achievement, which helps insure the maintenance of high standards and improve the school’s educational program. The Home of the Mustangs is counted as one of the top schools for performing arts and athletics as well.
The school has 25 Career Technical Education Course and 18 Advanced Placement Courses. It maintains a student teacher ratio of 25:1 which is lower than many elementary and middle schools in the region. The school is ranked as one of the top 1.3% schools in California and the API is beyond 900. Mira Costa currently caters to more than 2000 students with about 97 teachers.
