Manhattan Beach Middle School is the only middle school in town and has been named a California Distinguished School.
The school boasts of some great co-curricular programs that helps kids explore their choices and make good life and career decisions.
Beginning in the 2012-13 school year, each MBMS student has been given an iPad which students use both at school and at home. Forty teachers across grades K-12 are trained to use iPads in the classroom.
The school is now also utilizing PowerSchool, their student information system (SIS). It manages information such as grades, attendance, demographics, courses, etc. Since PowerSchool is web-based, you and your student can access it 24/7 from any computer with internet access.
MBMS hosts a yearly Scholar Quiz. It’s is a fun, fast-paced competition (think Jeopardy) with more than 600 participating students. The Time Warner Cable Science Night happens in the spring time. There are over 50 exciting activities and workshops for students and families to enjoy including Surgeons Table, Pure Energy laser demonstration, Plankton Lab and Forensics projects.
During the school year, MBMC invites Senior Citizens in Manhattan Beach to special events such as plays, dance, choir and chorale concerts.
