Yesterday for Father’s Day we rounded up our college aged daughters and headed to one of my husband’s favorite places — the bowling alley. Gable House Bowl is a huge 40 lane bowling center located right at the base of the Palos Verdes Peninsula where PV and the beach cities join, on Hawthorne just South of Sepulveda Boulevard.
The lanes are always in great condition and they have lane computers that will take the scorekeeping work away and just leave the fun. Lots of rental shoes (with free socks!) and house balls make it fun for even the very occasional bowler. They have lane bumpers too, if you have little ones with you, to keep them from getting discouraged by the gutter balls.
There are lots of leagues, too, if you are new to the area and want to make some new friends — their Vegas leagues include the price of a weekend in Las Vegas in the league fees. Garth and I were on a team for several seasons and made some really great friends there.
